A Praying People
As always, I left our worship service encouraged yesterday. Several prayer requests were made and some were changed. We prayed about new joys and tragedies, and in all of it we are growing in our trust of God. It’s so important that we are a praying people. We’ve all heard stories from people who knew they were being prayed for, and they could tell a difference was being made. Maybe that’s something you’ve experienced yourself.
There have been times I’ve told someone that I’ll be praying for them, and they’ve given me a look like, “What good do you think that’ll do?” I believe that prayer does do good. Like James wrote, “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective” (James 5:16). I believe that, and I also believe when we pray together we are, through God’s power, changing the world. Keep it up! Keep being a praying people.
It was good to have Ervin Stutzman, the executive director of the Mennonite Church USA, with us yesterday morning. He provided some insight into things that are happening in the Mennonite Church worldwide. Thanks to all who came out to hear him during the Sunday School hour. During his presentation, Ervin mentioned the MCUSA’s Purposeful Plan. If you’d like to read it, you can click here to download it. I’ll make a few hard copies available as well.
Remember that coffee and devotions will be meeting this Wednesday at 10:00am. Coffee Time on Friday is cancelled this week because of the pre-school’s Grandparents breakfast. We will resume a week from Friday.
God bless!
