2020 Vision
It has been a hard year. For many of you personally, the last year has brought dramatic change. For our farmers, the year past brought unprecedented challenges. As a congregation, we have faced new challenges also. As the calendar turns from 2019 to 2020 this week, my repeated prayer is that I hope 2020 is much better than 2019. As Christians, we are called to always live in hope. We expect that God is at work in our lives and even in the difficult things, we trust that his good is being accomplished.
I am reminded of the hopeful passage which Paul wrote to the church in Philippi: “. . . one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:13b-14, NIV). During this week, it is pretty common to reflect on what has past and to make plans for the future. I’m not usually big on resolutions, but this year I have formulated some goals which I hope to work toward, as God gives me strength, in the year to come. My prayer for all of us at North Danvers is that this will be a year full of hope and joy. Even though difficulties will surely come, we pray for God’s grace and mercy to sustain us in the New Year.
Remember that our annual congregational meeting with potluck dinner will be held on Sunday, January 19th.
I encourage you to think about who you could invite to come to worship with you. Always be thinking about who you know that would be blessed by a closer walk with God.
In all of my prayers, I am praying for a good year ahead.
Love you all. God bless,
Brian
