God’s Artisans
The question from yesterday is “What are you doing to build up the body?” God calls his people to be people who build up rather than to tear down. We see so much around us that tears down. We hear criticism, negativity, and harsh words. We are called to respond to this with words and actions that build up. Paul wrote, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen,” (Ephesians 4:29, NIV). What’s one thing that you can do today to build someone else up?
Next Sunday we’ll be looking at Zechariah 3. One of the reasons I love the book of Zechariah so much are the prophecies about Jesus that we see there. God spoke through Zechariah to say, “Listen, High Priest Joshua, you and your associates seated before you, who are men symbolic of things to come: I am going to bring my servant, the Branch,” (Zechariah 3:8, NIV). Zechariah wasn’t only speaking about what God’s people needed to do in their own time, but he was showing the importance of what they were doing was that they were pointing toward the future of God’s plan. The servant he would send who he called “the Branch.” Let me encourage you to do some of the Scripture readings we have published in this E-Gram to think about what God means by this.
We have a fun Fall event upcoming. On October 25th at 4pm we’ll be having a wiener roast here at the NDMC grounds. This would be a great time to invite your friends and neighbors to come along. I hope you’ll make plans to attend.
Check out the rest of this E-Gram. There’s always important information to be found there.
I hope to see you this Sunday!
God bless, Brian
