CDC Annual Meeting

Josanne and I were in Harrisonburg, Virginia last week where I was attending the Annual Meeting of the Central District Conference. Yesterday we were able to come to Landover, Maryland to visit with our daughter, Bethany, for a couple of days. I’ll be back in Danvers this week while Josanne will travel over to Eastern Kentucky to spend time with her aunt. We missed you all yesterday, but are thankful for James McMillion and his willingness to fill the pulpit in my absence.

I was able to make an announcement about our 175th Anniversary plans for September 11, 12, and 13. There was some good interest and a lot of well-wishes sent to our congregation regarding this milestone.

James finished up our series through the Psalms. Next week, during our worship service, we’ll begin a series on Paul’s letter to the Ephesians by focusing on just the first two verses of this letter. This will allow us some time to think about what the city of Ephesus was like when Paul first preached the gospel in that place. You might recall that Acts 19 records some conflicts that accompanied the founding of the Church in that place.

Thinking about that conflict at the beginning of the Church in Ephesus and thinking about our 175th Anniversary makes me reflect on the hardships that those who began our congregation certainly would have faced.

I look forward to seeing you next week. Why don’t you think of someone you can invite to come along with you.

God bless,

Brian
