Funk’s Grove 2026

It was another busy weekend. We are so thankful for everyone who volunteered to help with the funeral on Saturday and yesterday’s worship service and meal at Funk’s Grove. There was a lot of work to be done. It was so good to see everyone step up and work together to make it all happen. It’s times like this that we are so appreciative for North Danvers's value of helping one another out. Thank you to everyone who pitched in to help!

The Funk’s Grove service was very well-attended. The picnic afterwards was very enjoyable as well. It’s become a nice tradition that we get together for this service with the First Presbyterian Church of Danvers. The music and singing were great. It’s always a neat experience to worship in the chapel there. As I said yesterday, it’s inspiring to think of all the worshippers who have sat in those pews down through the generations, the number of hymns that have been sung there, the Scriptures that have been read there, and the sermons delivered from that pulpit. It’s a good reminder for us to be thankful for the ones who pioneered the way in this part of the country.

Sunday we will continue our series by looking at Ephesians 4:1-16. The title of the sermon is “Bound by Purpose.” Thinking about this past weekend, it’s a fitting sermon that reminds us again of the importance of unity. In this passage, however, the emphasis is that we are gifted by the Spirit differently so that as we each do what we are gifted to do, we are brought closer together. God did not make us all the same. That sometimes makes it difficult to work side-by-side, so it’s important we remember to be thankful that others see things differently. We need one another to fulfill God’s work in our congregation.

One final reminder that our 175^th Anniversary celebration will be here before you know it—September 11-13. If you haven’t RSVPed for the Friday night meal, you’ll want to do that as soon as you can. Also, there are flyers and postcards for you to take and use to invite others who may be interested in attending.
