Is it Spring, Yet?

Doesn’t March just have a way of breaking your heart? We had a beautiful day or two and then last night and today there’s sleet, ice, and snow! Not to mention the wind, of course. The best news about a March snow, though, is that we know it won’t last forever. If it’s any consolation, we are four days away for the official start of Spring! In the meantime, stay safe out there. Conditions are still a bit bad.

A sure sign of Spring is that it’s one of the busiest weeks of the year here at North Danvers. Last night was a work day in preparation for the Illinois Mennonite Relief Sale. Then we have the pie day on Thursday. Friday and Saturday are the days of the Relief Sale itself. It’s always a busy time, but also very rewarding as well. Thank you so much to all of the volunteers who’ll be doing extra on that day.

Don’t forget that Easter Sunday will be here before you know it. Who will you invite to come to our worship service with you?

Next week our text for Sunday worship is Matthew 25. There Jesus tells two parables that teach his disciples what to do as they wait for his return. He then teaches his followers how important it is for them to care for those who have needs. Jesus says, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me,” (Matthew 25:40, NIV). We are waiting for Jesus to return and make everything right, but until he does we are to be about the “business” of caring for those who have needs. This fits again with the theme of this week’s Relief Sale and the work of the Mennonite Central Committee.

I’ll probably see several of you this week, but if I don’t, I hope to see you Sunday!

God bless, Brian
