Promise of a Kingdom

Yesterday’s worship focused around 2 Samuel 7 and God’s promise to David that one of his descendants would rule over an eternal Kingdom. We believe this Son of David is none other than Jesus. This Kingdom that God promises is his plan for fixing what is broken in the world. So we pray for God’s Kingdom to come, God’s will to be done on earth and it is in heaven, (Matthew 6:10). Jesus tells us to seek God’s Kingdom and his righteousness first, and we can trust that we’ll have all of those other things we need (Matthew 6:33). I don’t do this often, but if you didn’t hear the sermon yesterday, can I encourage you to go back and listen to it? It’s not because it was such a great sermon, but because what it is talking about is important for us to grasp hold of as followers of Jesus.

I want to say thank you so much to Steve Dennis and Rick Boschulte. Thanks to them our directional signs to the NDMC building that have been down for so long are back up and they look great. Steve told me he kept driving by the empty posts and saying, “Someone ought to do something about that!” Then it occurred to him that maybe he was the someone. I think there’s a good lesson in that. Thanks so much!

A reminder that beginning a week from today, I’ll be attending a class up in the Western suburbs of Chicago at Northern Seminary. I’ll have my phone with me, but will have it off during class. If you need me urgently, leave a message and I’ll check it during breaks.

Hope to see you Sunday! Bring along a friend.

God bless, Brian
