Some Busy Weeks

Last week was a busy one at North Danvers. Thank you to all who put in extra effort to make sure everything got done. I’ve heard first-hand, second-hand, and I’ve seen on social media that our hospitality made an impression on those who were here for Gayle Epperson’s celebration of life.

Yesterday was a great day as we celebrated Quincy’s baptism. Thanks to those who helped prepare for that as well.

Yesterday we saw how David used his influence, not for his own benefit, but to show kindness to someone who could do nothing to repay him. We should look for opportunity to do good for others as well. It’s a response to the way that God has shown kindness to us that we can never repay. My favorite passage is Titus 3:4-5a, “But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy,” (NIV).

Next week we will continue with our journey through 2 Samuel. Mike Claver has agreed to fill the pulpit while I’m away.

Which leads to the second busy week. I’ll be at Northern Seminary in Lisle, IL this week in an intensive class. I’m writing this from Lisle just now. The classes are from 8:30-4:30 every day. I’d appreciate your prayers for me as I devote myself to learning more about God’s Word this week. We are particularly studying Paul’s Epistles.
