Working Together

Yesterday’s worship service was focused on “working together.” Ephesians 2:10, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do,” (NIV). Paul tells us that God has hand-crafted us and has brought us together to do the things he has prepared for us. It is a privilege for us to be able to partner with God in redeeming and restoring his creation! And it’s a task we share in together.

Speaking of work, I want to again commend the Stained Glass task force for all of their hard work over the past several months. They researched our stained glass windows, learned about what needed to be done, and then communicated it well to the whole congregation. Thank you all so much for your diligence! After yesterday’s yes vote, the real work of planning and implementing the restoration begins!

The guiding idea for this series through Ephesians is the need we have for one another. Next week we’ll see that we need to seek unity with all of God’s people. Paul uses the example of Jews and Gentiles. There was a firm divide between those groups, but in Christ that wall that divided them is destroyed (Ephesians 2:14). It doesn’t end there. It’s not simply a doing away with the division, but we are also then built together to be a temple where the Spirit of God lives (Ephesians 2:21-22)

Speaking again of work, it’s a busy week for North Danvers with lots of activity. There’s going to be pie-baking and ice cream social-ing. There’s still some sign-ups needed if you can help out! Remember—we work together to accomplish God’s purpose.
