Let me say it right up front! Remember that this Sunday, January 18th, is our annual meeting. We’ll have a potluck following the worship service and then the meeting will follow.
Yesterday during worship, we looked at Matthew 3 and John the Baptist’s announcement of the coming of our Lord. Next week we’ll see that Jesus’ Kingship did not go unchallenged. In Matthew 4, Jesus’ temptation reminds us that he was truly human, yet he did not give in to temptation (Hebrews 4:15). He provides for us, then, a way for us to be forgiven for our sins and reunited with God.
I had a productive week in class last week. I’m sorry there wasn’t an E-Gram. We had technical difficulties. The technical difficulty was that I managed to remember everything I needed, except for my computer. It ended up working out alright though, because Josanne met me halfway and it resulted in an unexpected dinner together on my birthday. It’s a reminder to me that even when things seem to have gone wrong, there are times they work out even better than I could have expected.
We also seem to have gotten the issues with our camera worked out. It took our helper in those issues, Scott Sarver, several trips out here to the church building and several calls with the tech people to get it worked out. We’re thankful that it is back up and running.
A reminder to continue to be persistent in your prayers for our brothers and sisters in Christ. One of the lines from a worship song yesterday stood out to me: “Teach me the patience of unanswered prayer.” Wow! Talk about a difficult one. But let’s continue to persistent and patiently petition God on behalf of others.
A final reminder: hope to see you Sunday and invite a friend!
God bless, Brian
