Beginning of Fall
If anyone needs to hear this, you should know that God wants a relationship with you, and even if you feel far from God he is waiting for you to take a step toward him, and he’ll come running to you in response. That’s the picture we get of Jesus’ story that we call “The Prodigal Son.” Jesus tells us that the son got up “and went to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him,” (Luke 15:20, NIV). That’s a beautiful image of what God wants for us. He has created us to be in relationship with him, and through Jesus he has made that possible.
That was the theme of the message yesterday during our worship service. We are taking a few weeks to look at God’s plan for his people. These are really the basics of what God desires for his people. Next week we’ll see that God also created us to be in community with one another. Remember that we’ll also be having a time of communion together on Sunday as we celebrate World Communion Sunday.
Our Sunday School class has begun again this Fall. In the adult class we are looking at the Gospel of John. Come at 9am and join us for studying God’s Word together.
Yesterday after the worship service is was so nice to share together in a Potluck Lunch. It was nice to see the people sitting around tables talking and sharing together.
Think about our farmers as they begin the harvest in the next week or two. We pray for their safety and we pray for a great harvest!
God bless,
Brian
