A Servant’s Heart
I don’t often say this, but I would encourage you to go back and listen to yesterday’s worship service if you missed it. I believe this is an important concept for us to grasp ahold of in our congregation at this time. The pattern of being a disciple of Jesus is our willingness to serve others—not from our position or authority, but because we are willing to empty ourselves for the sake of others—even as Christ did for us. It would make a big difference in our lives, our congregation, and in our community if we could become more like Christ by developing a servant’s heart.
I opened the sermon yesterday with a story about my friend John Castelein’s return to belief in God. You can listen to an interview with him by clicking here, or if you’d prefer to watch the interview, you can find it on YouTube by clicking here. It is an hour-long interview, but I believe it is well worth listening to and sharing with others who you think might benefit from it.
A reminder that Josanne and I will be traveling to Goshen, IN late this week for the Central District Conference. If you’d pray for our travels and for us as we attend those meetings, it would be much appreciated.
We had a great turnout for our worship service yesterday with several out-of-town guests. I hope to see you next week!
God bless, Brian
