Anticipation...
There’s the first nip of Fall in the air this week. The fields are close to ready, but not quite yet. It’s a time of anticipation. We feel anticipation as well as we begin our new Sunday School year next Sunday. Teachers are preparing classrooms and lessons. Plans have been made for a special kickoff service. Like the fields, everything is almost ready, we are anticipating the beginning! Remember that next week our schedule will be changing so that Sunday School is at 9am, and our worship service will begin at 10:10am, with fellowship time to follow! Josanne and I love many things about North Danvers Mennonite Church, and all of you who are a part of this community. One of the things we have especially enjoyed is how much you enjoy your times of fellowship together. That’s a beautiful thing to see in a congregation.
The adult class will be studying the book of 1 Peter, and thinking about what it means to be Christians in the midst of our culture. We will have a supplementary text, Resident Aliens by Stanley Hauerwas and William Willimon. I think you’ll find the study informative, encouraging, and very practical. Even if you’ve never participated in Sunday School before, you should give it a try.
Next Sunday is also the last sermon in our series on the book of Philippians and Having Joy. Beginning September 27th, we’ll be looking at the book of 1 Samuel and seeing that God is at Work.
What are you anticipating? Hope you are looking forward to seeing the way that God will continue to work among us and through us here at NDMC.
God bless, Brian
