Give Thanks

This is the week that people of the United States stop to give thanks. It’s a good thing and offers believers an opportunity to perhaps engage others in meaningful conversations about God. Thanksgiving should remind believers, though, that gratitude to God needs to be a part of our daily lives. Through our actions, our prayers, and our giving we offer thanks to God for the many blessings he has given us. Gratitude needs to be a part of a believer’s life every day.

We are thankful for many things this season. We are especially thankful for our new Church home. As we come to know you all more and grow to love you more, we thank God that he has brought us to North Danvers Mennonite Church. We are thankful as well for the way you all offer up your time and talents for the good of the congregation here.

We are thankful for the wonderful youth service dinner yesterday after the worship service. The youth did a fantastic job—thank you all for your servant hearts. Thanks also to everyone who helped plan it and put it together. Special thanks to Kathy Miller for putting it all together.

The season of Advent begins next Sunday as well. This season of anticipation is always a highlight of the Church year. Remember the Hanging of the Greens next Sunday evening at 4pm. We’ll be working together to decorate this beautiful, historic Church building that God has entrusted to us. Afterwards we’ll enjoy some nice, hot vegetable soup and sandwiches together in fellowship. Then the young people will be giving us a presentation of the story of Jesus’ birth, and we’ll sing some carols together. I am really looking forward to this, and think it will be a great kick-off to your Christmas celebrations!

Looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday!

God bless,

Brian
