Summer Heat
It was a hot day yesterday, and already this morning you can tell it’s going to be another hot one. Seems like summer has come all at once. This will be a good reminder that we will be on our summer schedule beginning next Sunday. We won’t have Sunday School, and our Worship Service will be at 9 am.
There will be guest speakers the next two weeks. Next Sunday, June 3rd, Krista Dutt who is the Church Relations Associate for Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) will be speaking. The MCC does relief and development work around the world. We participate in the work of the MCC through the Illinois Mennonite Relief Sale, the school bags, and the health kits. This should be a really good, informative time. You can read more about the work of the MCC by clicking on this website. On June 10th Jim Bortell will be speaking. It’s been a while since Jim has spoken here, so there are many who are looking forward to hearing him.
Josanne and I will be on another trip to Israel with some people from our congregation and others from our community. Please be in prayer for safety in our travel, and also that this experience will be transformative to the faith of all of those involved. We’ll try to send some pictures and updates along the way.
Finally, today is Memorial Day when we remember those who’ve lost their lives in service to our country. We are thankful for the freedom of worship that we enjoy. We should never take this privilege for granted. We also continue to pray for peace in conflicts around the world.
God bless, Brian
