Middle of the Summer
The Fourth of July always marks the unofficial midpoint of the summer. The weather has been hot. Many of our families are on summer vacation or going to family reunions. The Danvers Town Band concerts are in full swing, and an occasional thunderstorm pops up. It certainly feels like summer.
Speaking of the band concert, remember that we are responsible for the ice cream social next Sunday evening. There are still some needs and some jobs to be filled if you’d like to volunteer.
I want to say thank you, again, to all of those who stepped up in my absence as we were with Josanne’s Mom. I can’t tell you enough how much I appreciate the time and space that you were able to provide. It was a blessing. Thanks also for all of the kind messages, cards, calls, flowers, etc. that were sent. They all meant so much. Thank you.
I want to encourage you to think about two things in the middle of this summer. First, are there areas of the work of the church where I can contribute. The only way we are able to function as a congregation is with everyone using the gifts God has given them to help out. Secondly, let’s continue to invite our friends, family, and neighbors to our congregation. I’ll be saying more about this as kickoff approaches, but we need to get the word out that North Danvers Mennonite Church loves visitors, and we try to go out of our way to make them feel welcome.
Hope to see you all Sunday!
God bless,
Brian
