California Dreaming

It was good to be back to worship with everyone at North Danvers yesterday. Josanne and I had a good trip to California. We were able to see some sights, to do some good hikes, and to eat some good food. I was also able to spend some time with my friend Terry who planted a church in Los Angeles 13 years ago. He’s been going through some health problems related to his back, but the congregation is a vibrant, growing community.

Terry and I knew each other when we were in Junior High, but we really became friends in High School when we both realized that we planned to be pastors and were both going to attend Cincinnati Bible College. From that point on, we were very close and have remained so ever since. It was good for us to spend time together and I think we encouraged one another.

During the worship time we are continuing to look at 1 Peter. Yesterday we talked about the importance of being an Outwardly-Focused Community. Let’s continue to seek ways that we can reach out in love to those around us.

I mentioned yesterday that we are just a bit over one month until our Fall kickoff. I encourage you to continue to think about people you know who do not have a church home. It would be great to invite the to kickoff Sunday. This Fall our series will be in the book of Judges, and I think will be helpful in giving us practical ways for living our Christian lives.

Remember Danvers Days is coming up August 18th. We’ll be meeting in the park that Sunday morning.

Hope you have a great week.

God bless,

Brian
