Declare His Glory

Yesterday saw the beginning of a new sermon series on some of the psalms. The title of the series is “Declare His Glory” which is taken from Psalm 19:1, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands,” (NIV). The psalms teach us about God’s character and nature. We’ll also see the way they point us toward Jesus.
I don’t often say this, but if you missed the service yesterday, I’d encourage you to go back and listen to it. I think it’s an important message for us to hear. Even when things seem out of control in our world, we need to remember that God has enthroned Jesus as the King over an eternal kingdom. Our lives need to be centered on that truth, or we will find ourselves swayed by every piece of news we hear.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed today or if you find yourself unsettled by news reports, let me encourage you to take a look at Psalm 37, as I mentioned in the sermon yesterday. Three times this psalm tells us, “do not fret.” It reminds us that God takes care of his people. It’s a calm assurance in which we can rest.
There is a lot going on this week, but I forgot to mention yesterday that we will have our monthly potluck next Sunday after worship. Make plans to attend and invite someone else to join you.
Hope to see you Sunday!
God bless, Brian
