Refuge in a Time of Storm

A couple of weeks ago, many of us found ourselves taking refuge in our basements or interior rooms as strong wind, thunderstorms, and even a few tornadoes tore through our area. It looks like this might be the case again today, though I’m hoping and praying that we avoid the worst of this storm. These storms remind us remind us, though, of the importance of having a safe place to go when we’re in the face of danger.
Next Sunday the title of the sermon will be “The Lord is Our Refuge” based on Psalm 16. This psalm begins: “Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge,” (NIV). These physical storms around us remind us as well that we all face storms in our lives as well. The psalmist is talking about those times of uncertainty and hardship that we all experience. In these storms, as well, we have a safe place we can go. We can place our trust in the Lord to be our refuge.
I hope you all remember that being a part of this community of faith at North Danvers means that you have people who are there for you when the need arises. It’s not easy for us to ask for help sometimes, but it’s difficult for your Church family to know what you’re going through if you don’t ask.
Saturday, those who are able and willing, will be gathering at the church building for a clean-up day. There are lots of different things that need to be done around the building—both inside and outside—as we do some “Spring cleaning.”
Make sure you read through the rest of this E Gram to be reminded of the different events that are happening this week and in upcoming weeks.
Hope to see you Sunday, and think about who you might invite to come along. We’re trying to pass the word that we are offering childcare during the worship service, so if there’s someone you know for whom that would be important, would you please let them know?
God bless, Brian
