Restore Us, O God

Yesterday’s worship service focused on God’s promised restoration. The repeated refrain from Psalm 80 is:
“Restore us, LORD God Almighty;
make your face shine on us,
that we may be saved.” (Psalm 80:19, NIV)
The idea of restoration is a beautiful—that things and people are worth being restored. God’s promise is that though we are not what we should be, as he works in us and as he draws us together he’s restoring us.
I quoted a song by Gungor called “Beautiful Things.” Michael and Lisa Gungor have both walked away from their Christian faith, but this song still tells an important truth about God’s ability to take our brokenness and make something beautiful through them. Take a few moments to be encouraged by this live performance of this song from 2010.
Remember that next Sunday is the first week of June, so it’s our first Sunday of our summer schedule. No Sunday School until September and our worship service begins at 9am.
Next Sunday we’ll spend time thinking about what Psalm 104 teaches us about God’s transcendence. Hope to see you and make sure to invite a friend!
God bless, Brian
